A 10-Minute Vacation

Hi Reader,

Many years ago I took a psychology class and they taught us a concept for dealing with stress known as “5 minute vacation”.

The concept is that whenever you're overwhelmed with stress, just taking 5 minutes to rest and imagine yourself on a lovely vacation can dramatically lower your stress levels.

I'm currently recovering from the worst asthma exacerbation I've had in over 3 years.

Ironically, this has forced me to rest.

I'm honestly not very good at resting.

I like to be busy and active, and resting (other than sleeping) has always felt like a waste of time for me.

But my body had other ideas and decided that I really needed a rest.

Unfortunately, this is a lesson I've seen play out many times, with both myself and others -

When people refuse to take a much needed rest, the body will decide to take one for you!

So if you're currently feeling overwhelmed and exhausted, here is your sign to give yourself a little rest and relaxation. Trust me, your body will thank you for it!

Speaking of vacations, I finally have my new video on Kinosaki, Japan, ready to show you!

Kinosaki is an absolutely beautiful and charming onsen town in Japan, about two hours away from Kyoto. This place truly makes you feel like you’ve stepped back in time.

Onsen towns were created around natural hot springs known as onsen, and they are amazing places to find relaxation and rejuvenation.

Onsen are full of beneficial minerals and are such an amazing way to relax and simultaneously improve your health - they are one of the things I miss most about Japan.

Join me for a little tour of this beautiful town and give yourself a 10 minutes to relax - hey even put your feet up while you’re at it! 😀

Wishing you a restful Sunday 🌸

Hi Reader, If you’ve ever landed after a long flight and caught your reflection looking… dull, puffy, dehydrated — You’re not imagining it. Cabin air has a fraction of the humidity your skin is used to on the ground, and it pulls moisture straight out of it the entire time you’re in the air. After years of flying for a living, I’ve built a skincare/wellness routine around two windows: Right before I fly, and right after I land. Here’s what that actually looks like. Before & during the flight:...

Hi Reader, It’s August and there is so much stuff I feel like I should have done by now this year. So of course, I’ve been dwelling on that. Until I got on the phone with a friend who helped remind me of all the stuff I have done. This year and in the past. In case you don’t have that friend, or simply don’t have the time to call - (‘cause that’s real, especially when you’re juggling trips, work, life stuff, and everything in between!), Allow me to be her for you - Reader! You have come so...

Hi @Reader, As anyone who’s recovered from an injury knows, little milestones towards your recovery can make you so incredibly happy. This week, I’m happy to say that I made some major progress in several areas. I was finally able to start driving again - just short drives but it's something! Independence is so important to me and knowing that I can drive myself, at least locally, made me really happy. And - I was able to go for a run. I probably could’ve done it sooner, but I had been having...
