Hi Reader, Yesterday I was flying a trip with Will, a coworker that I went to flight attendant training with 11 years ago. We were reminiscing about classmates and I mentioned our mutual friend Rolo. Will smiled and said, “Rolo really is the most interesting man in the world. “ And I knew exactly what he meant by that. For context, Rolo is in his 60s, but he has more energy in enthusiasm than many 20 year-olds that I’ve met. He’s always up to some joyful adventure - whether it’s being the captain of a boat, flying hot air balloons, or taking a month off to live in Spain with his family. And lest you think that he just chases fun and adventure and sharks his responsibilities, nothing could be further from the truth. Rolo is a dedicated family man with several kids and even more grandchildren. He’s also a full-time flight attendant who flies an impressive amount of hours (much more than I do!) and yet he always finds time to enjoy life, and genuinely seems amused by it all. During our flight attendant training, it was honestly quite stressful. We had tests almost every day and if we didn’t pass with 90% or higher, we would be sent home from training. We were constantly reminded that we weren’t hired until we had passed training. I was often quite anxious, but Rolo would make me feel calm in an instant with his easy smile. He would say it’s all going to be fine - and it always was. So what is my point with all this? I feel like Rolo has really mastered a very important life skill. Which is finding that balance between enjoyment and adventure and also meeting your responsibilities to yourself and to your family. It’s not that Rolo has less stress or responsibilities than anyone else - or even more time for that matter. It’s that he’s already made the time to fill up his cup of joy and that makes dealing with stress and the little problems of life that much easier. This is a balance that I definitely keep working on. I feel like I’m pretty good about the responsible part, but allowing myself enjoyment and dare I say it - relaxation - on a more regular basis can be challenging sometimes. I’m getting better though! The exception to this is travel. There truly is something about travel that helps you to just relax and enjoy the moment. And if you haven’t seen my video on Kinosaki Onsen yet, it doesn’t get any more relaxing and enjoying than that. Even just watching this video will take you to another place… But I would love to hear from you - What are some ways that you currently balance responsibility and enjoyment/relaxation in your life? Or if you don’t feel that you’re currently doing that, what are some ways that you could start to implement that balance - such as keeping one day of the week sacred just for relaxation and/or family time (I’ve started using Saturdays for this purpose) or starting off mornings with a relaxing walk? And now if I could ask you for a super quick favor - Could you answer this one question poll (totally anonymous) to let me know your preferences? I would really love to use this to better serve my readers. Wishing you a restful Sunday and a beautiful week ahead 🌸 Amalia

Hi Reader, Many years ago I took a psychology class and they taught us a concept for dealing with stress known as “5 minute vacation”. The concept is that whenever you're overwhelmed with stress, just taking 5 minutes to rest and imagine yourself on a lovely vacation can dramatically lower your stress levels. I'm currently recovering from the worst asthma exacerbation I've had in over 3 years. Ironically, this has forced me to rest. I'm honestly not very good at resting. I like to be busy and...
Hi Reader Life can be overwhelming some days, am I right? The overwhelm is still something I’m working through - although I think I am starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel. I talk about the overwhelm and how I’m learning to manage it in this video. Although I’m talking from the perspective as a mom, I think this discussion can really apply to anyone with a lot on their plate! I’ve also recently started reading "Future Boards" by Sarah Centrella and I’m really loving it! Because...
